H-1B Petitions for Fiscal Year 2017

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will begin to accept H-1B petitions for 2017 starting on April 1, 2016. The accepted cap for 2017 is 65,000.

USCIS opens this opportunity to thousands of foreign workers who are requested and recruited by U.S. companies. The H-1B program is used by U.S. businessmen to hire foreign professionals specialized in fields such as engineering, science and computer programming.

USCIS expects to receive 65,000 during the first five business days of this year’s program and will monitor how many petitions have been received and will notify the public when that cap has been covered. If this cap has been achieved during the first 5 business days they will use a computer generated system to select the number of petitions until the cap is reached.

For more information on the H-1B nonimmigrant and visa program visit the USCIS website or the Spanish language blog Compass.
