Sarah Saldaña first Latin woman to lead ICE
Sarah Saldaña was confirmed by a Senate majority for the position of Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security to the Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE, becoming the first Hispanic woman to achieve this position.
The current federal prosecutor of the North Texas district since 2011, will be the next Assistant Secretary of research institute of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Senate voted 55-39 to confirm Saldaña in spite of objection and strategies on the part of some Republicans because she would be tasked with enforcing President Obama’s executive order to issue worker visas to illegal immigrants within the United States
Sarah thus becomes the first Hispanic woman to hold this prestigious and difficult position.
