Cancellation of DAPA Protection for Undocumented Immigrants
The cancellation of Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) granting migratory protection for undocumented parents of children with citizenship or permanent residence can affect some 5 million families,
The decision taken by President Trump will divide families who have children protected by this program and will leave their parents in a total state of uncertainty.
This program protected the undocumented parents from deportation and at the same time children who now will be within the nation without their parents, alone and in many cases without resources.
DAPA was implemented by Executive Action of President Barack Obama’s 2014 which, in addition to protecting parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents from deportation extended the coverage of the Deferred Action of 2012 (DACA) for the dreamers.
